Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery)
Dr. Cynthia M. Gregg provides rhinoplasty surgeries for patients in Cary, Raleigh, and the surrounding areas of North Carolina.
Rhinoplasty is one of the most popular surgical procedures in facial plastic surgery. Large or misshapen noses cause many people embarrassment. Injuries can distort the nose and the nasal appearance can change with the aging process. Rhinoplasty can be beneficial for patients who suffer from breathing problems through their nasal passage.
How is a Rhinoplasty Performed in Cary, North Carolina?
Rhinoplasty procedures are individualized for each patient. Computer imaging is used to discuss and view the desired aesthetic goals with our patients. Incisions are most commonly made within the nose and sometimes on the small area of skin separating the nostrils. Then, depending on the desired outcome, nasal bone and cartilage can be trimmed, restructured, or added to reshape, resize or straighten the nose.
The overall surgery takes approximately 2 to 3 hours. A small splint will be placed on the nose for 5-6 days after surgery. No packing is placed inside the nose during surgery. In the immediate days after surgery, patients may experience bruising and minor swelling. Cold compresses and keeping the head elevated help to reduce any bruising or discomfort.
